So I moved to Germany and I am trying to register my bike, a 2005 Softail Standard (88b carb). Problem is, apparently, they are not fans of Vance&Hines Short Shot Staggered pipes, too loud. I need to go back to stock. I found a set on EBay, but they came off of an 07(96in, efi). Can anybody tell me if this will cause an issue?
I think the 07's will fit OK, except they came off a fuel inject bike and you'll have to plug the O2 sensor holes.
I just got a new take off set from an 03 pn Ebay, for my 04 FXST - easy to tell they were taken off at the dealership and never rolled out the door - looks like the bike was never started with them on it: $150. I put them on today and took a ride - my bike sounds like a BMW would sound, if they were really quiet. It's quieter than my wife's 883 Sportster.
