Knowing what I know now (famous last words)
10,000 pairs of handlebars, risers, etc, later.
I had a pair of the original Dyna Wide Glide mini-apes.
2nd pair I put on it.
They were the best overall. I should have spent more time with them,
adjusting and so forth. And just riding with them on there.
I like the bars I have now, but what a PITA.
I put the HD mini apes on my Road King and I love them.
Looking at getting a Softail standard here in Australia and will be putting the mini apes on it.
I went with Harley's chubby apes on my Nightrain which I like and get on with but like a lot of people that go with apes I wished that I had gone a couple of inches higher, my advice would be to try and sit on bikes with different heights of bars and see which you preferr before you buy.
I have the factory mini apes on my 07 fxstc really like them alot very comfy, but have probs with my right hand falling asleep on longer rides.
Have had several folks tell me to go with a fatter grip to help cure that.
If I was gonna make a change I'd want my arms to be up about 2"-3" higher but beyond that I feel like I'd be in a less comfortable position.
Not sure if I can change that much with just different risers, or if I need to change bars.
