Default FatBoy Upgrades

Hi...what do u think of the following upgrades for my 2006 Fatboy. It is running on carburetor, 1450cc twin cam engine.

Upgrades:

1. Andrew's Twin Cam Conversion Kit. Should i go with the roller chain or gear drive?

2. Cams - 26N

http://www.andrewsproducts.com/PDF_f...onCams-pg5.pdf

3. Mikuni 45 Carburetor

What would be the outcome of the upgrades listed above? Anything i should look out for? Hoping to get some opinions here before i take the plunge. Appreciate your thoughts.

Need to figure out how you ride before making a cam selection. Lots of great posts here regarding cam choice, and a whole lot of homework for you to do if you want to make a great educated guess you'll be happy with.

Also you can check out the dyno section to see what various combinations end up with as far as power, torque and curves (at WOT).

Good luck!
Roger

If you are considering going with the fear drive you need to measure your crank runout. It needs to be .003 or less supposedly to use gear drive. I'd do gear drive if the crank is in spec.

How many miles are on the bike? An 06 really needs to have the crank run out checked first before going with gear drive .003 or less or youre asking for noise and problems. You DO NOT need a mikuni 45, 42 is all you'll ever need, heck I run the 42 on my 107" motor. The stock CV setup right works great too. Stage 1 breather and a 2-1 pipe with those andrews 26 cams and you'll probably be very impressed. What are you looking for?

gear drive cams no doubt, get rid those tensioners and chain. Kinda surprised '06 carbed and only 1450?

Looking for a more responsive ride; one that pulls away quick. A nice idle lobe would have been great. Dont really want some major work on the bike like a big bore kit. Doing away with the potential of cam chain tensioner failure is great as well. Just not sure if it is necessary to use a gear drive or the advantage of it.

Im looking for something that works well from low to mid rpm..i ride mostly in the city highways..prob around 15miles one way..will add in the occasional trip. Bike is around 25k miles.

Does anyone have a similar upgrades done and what is the result?

Thanks for all yr replies!
