Default HD Rainsock

I did the airclear cover mod that some people on here have done. Since it leaves you with an exposed filter i bought the hd rainsock. My question is can i ride in the rain with this or is it just made so it can sit in the rain. Id hate to make a mistake and go on a ride in the rain and it mess something up.

I have the same setup, and AFAIK the whole point is to protect the exposed filter while riding in places that don't have endless sunshine - that's why I bought it, anyway!

Can you just buy the sock by itself, or was it part of a kit? I have been looking into getting one for those "just in case" days but I can't seem to find it on the HD website.

I found THIS which is the sock and a cover for $25.95, I think I paid $21 for just the sock!
And HERE is the K & N version

Wish you would have posted pic of your A/C...stage one on most will be round and the K&N filter number should be # hd-0800 with the K&N rainsock #HD-0800DK.

I prefer the K&N filter and wouldnt run the sock unless I knew fixin to hit rain, filter was designed to breath and the sock for rain.

I have seen that HD part on their website, but it is part of a kit. I was just wondering if you could just purchase the sock with out the adapter plate that comes with it and save the $$$

Agreed, I would have it stored in my fork bag and bring it out only during some heavy rain.

I had the "football" cover on my S1 last September during a long bike ride. We were caught in some unexpected torrential storms that precluded the record flooding that we got here in Pa. We had to drive about 20 miles in the downpour to get home at 2AM. During that ride I could tell some rain was getting into the filter because I would occasionally feel a hiccup in the bike. This year I only have the modified football AC cover (Pics below) and would like to have something as a back up plan.

I attached a picture of some flooding in our area...Hopefully they show up since I rarely post pics on here. My bike was in that building about 12 hours before this pic was taken. Good thing I changed my mind about leaving it there!!!

Rode home last night from work in the pouring rain like I have many times with the sock on. The sock did what it was designed to do.

I have the HD sock. When I rode to Sturgis last year, I hit some serious rain in upstate New York..I have a carb, and for the most part it worked ok...at one point, I had to pull over and wait it out, bike was coughing and spitting...like I said, serious rain. I would think you would be ok in a light or medium shower.
