My latest Lepera 'Sanora' seat blunder got me wondering, how many folks wasted a few bucks on a mod that didn't work out.
Meh, I just learned a valuable lesson...don't go strictly off of vendor sites to judge what a mod will look like on your bike, espcially for non-returnable customs.
You should get a couple pics is you can, who knows someone might like it and buy it from you. Some dudes dig a little extra cushion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I have had the same issue with a couple small mods but I guess not knowing till you bolt something on is half the fun...thank god for ebay and craigslist lol
I wasted a lot of money as well before I got my FatBoy the way I wanted it...
I went through...
4 different seats
3 exhaust systems
4 fenders
2 different front ends
2 rear suspensions
Floorboard inserts, footpegs, shifter pegs, brake pedals, etc...
and other things that I probably forget. I started selling stuff on eBay to recuperate some of the money I wasted.
I'm happy with the final product and it's gonna stay that way a long time (the bike is a 2000 FatBoy).
Now I don't even buy magazines anymore in case I see something else I might like.

Yeppers...I'd be interested in what it looked like. Gel pak was the culprit? Seat just too wide? Post a few pics if ya get time.
Happens to all of us. I'm still not 100% on my exhaust choice for my Springer, but I'll run it for a while with it on there....the sound is great, but I'm not sure I got the look I was hoping for. I plan to add a swingarm bag, so I may not end up with true duals or Cholos either way.
With so many choices out there, it's hard to make the right one every time.
I bet you can find a taker in the softail parts section though.
Yeah, I've dropped too much money on mods that didn't work, usually on stuff that didn't fit and I was either too lazy to ship it back or it didnt seem worth it
I really can't think of anything I've bought for the bike that I felt it was wasted $$.
The closest thing I can think of would be when I made my first fringe for my bike out of Deer skin, it was just too thin. I ended up ordering a ELK skin and re-doing it..
IMO its not thin but its soooo soft I may end up re-doing it again with some Cowhide.
I like doing leather work, so its not really a pain. Hides are not cheap but there not that expensive either.
With one whole hide I did two whole bikes (floorboards, seat, bags, rear mud flap and grips) for what some want just for the floorboards if I had bought them already made.
