At the Lone Star Rally back in November I bought a pair of heavy-weight chaps for the few cold months of winter in Houston. I knew what size I needed and wanted but let the kid working the "Hot Leathers" vendor tent talk me into a smaller size and an extender for the waist. Stupid I know... I bought their most expensive pair of naked leather chaps (half as much as my ***** G chaps back in 1984) and liked the quality. A few weeks later the stitching started coming undone at stress points from being too tight. The kid said they would stretch a lot; apparently not enough though. I phoned them and sent the chaps back to their warehouse to replace with the right size. Took a while for the office people to get to work in Manchester, CTbut they finally did. After about 3 weeks UPS delivered a package from them. BUT WRONG KIND!!! I sent a $100 pair in and got a $70 pair back, different type leather too.
Here is where the plug comes in.
In mid-December, afterI opened the UPS bag and had a brain hemorage, I was sitting at the garage-work-smoking table talking/drinkingShiner Bockwith my father-in-law, he hit me with a bombshell. He knows the owner of the Daytona Beach, FL "Hot Leathers" and she would most likely swap them out with the correct pair.
What could I say but OK. I had already paid shipping to send the 1st pair back and was charged shipping again to get the 2ndpair returned to me. Mymother-in-law came back into towna few days ago with the right size and stylechaps. Merry Christmas all over again! Plus as a bonus, there were 2 pair of extra nice T-shirts to make up for the inconvenience.
I may still be a little miffed at their warehouse, but the "Hot Leathers" store in Daytona Beach rocks! I recommend them to anyone. I hope to buy her a beer at "Dirty Harry"s Saloon" in march for Bike Week '07.
its always the simple things that turn into a 10 car pile up!!!
glad you got what you want now and the extras.
also thats for the heads up on the Hot Leathers. is there a website do you know of.?
this is what popped up when i typed it in and not sure if its the same place. ---> http://www.hotleathers.com/
Glad it worked out for ya, but I hope everybody else that has a problem with them doesn't have to have a father-in-law that knows the owner to get something done right
