I began installing the Kuryakyn Deluxe Panacea tailight last night. Easy plug-n-play job, went to test it and the brake light doesn't appear to be working. Turn signals work, taillight stays on but when I apply either the hand or foot brake I get nothing.
Just to rule out the new taillight, I reinstalled the stock taillight and sure enough no brake light from that either. I asked my wife and she said that my brakelight was working a few days before when she was behind me. Checked all the fuses and they appear to be fine.
I'm a bit confused on what exactly the problem could be or really where to start in locating it. Any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated.
VOM would be handy, you wouldnt had have to reinstall the old light. My thoughts are since the wife said brake light was workin the other day is to concentrate on the plug and pins. Doubtful both barke light switches got together and decided to go on strike. Be interesting to what ya find tho, let us know.
I did visually check all the connections that I messed with and they all visually looked good. I'll check everything tonight with a VOM to see if there are any irregularities.
I also thought i would be fairly odd for both brake light switches to go bad at the same time. I got to wondering if maybe the brake light was actually stuck in the on position. The new tail light was really bright and I attributed that simply to it being LED but maybe it was so bright because it sensed the brakes being applied?
