As far as pipes go a 2 into 1 yields the most power gains. I have a propipe and the sound is heavenly.
A tmax is a great tuner. I have a pc-v. It also has the auto tune option. Either or will get er done well for you.
Slip ons will sound good but because you retain the stock head pipe there really isn't any power increase.
Congrats on the new bike. I had an 06 1100 v-star. Was a nice bike. But it ain't a Harley
Ill say the same thing about pipes i do every time....go on ebay and look up Patriot pipes 2 into 1. (no i dont work for em lol), I got the pipe for 425 shipped to my door and 10HP gain. As for a tuner...ill personally only run PC...good luck Sir!
Just so y'all understand that it is really auto-adjust, not truly auto-tune, and that it is only as good as the base map that it is based on. Many are happy and have good results, and many not so much. I had fine results with the PC III, as well as the TMax, so they can be good devices for basic configurations.
I had another chat with my Harley Mechanic and he is stearing me toward the SERT due to the fact that he personally has more experience with them...in his words he can weild it like a scalpel and get me the best tune possible for my AC/Pipe setup...he did say that he has sold and installed Thundermax autotuner and people are relatively satisfied with them, but I think I will save the 400 dollars. I also do not need a ton of performance and with the setup I am buying he told me based on how I told him I ride that the cam work would , at least for now, just be overkill and drain gas mileage, which in this economy and as often as I plan to ride may not be a necessary expense. I guess I will go with the rineharts cuz he said he loves the deep low rolling rumble and that volume wise they are close to the V&H BSS. performance wise he said that he is not sure but believes them to be close to even as well...
I do not know why but he wouldnt tell me what to expect for hp/torque but I think I read somewhere to expect 89/96. at first I was like wow that is low, but my cousin informed me of one huge fact. He said that an old muscle car from like the 60s may have had 450 hp but it weighed close to 4k...inversely my bike would have 90 and be 700 pounds... so doing the math, and not considering that the bike will not lose as much hp delivered to the wheels because of the belt drive as opposed to a shaft and torque converter i guess that my bike should, in theory, perfor somewhere near old school American muscle cars?
Shredding rubber, I actually am coming off an 09 Vstar 1100 Custom...but I sat on a harley at the exchange and was like oh man the feel even though I couldnt start her up felt better made and balanced.
