I am considering wrapping my big radius pipes with black header wrap to match the rest of my night train. Has anyone else tried this on their big radius pipes and with what results?
Thanks,
Chris
Have you used the pipes yet? If not you can get themceramic coated flat black. It won't work on used pipes. If you still want to wrap the pipe, I've heard wetting the wrap makes it easier.(I haven'ttried)
My experience with wrap wasn't good.
I loved the look for about a month but then, it doesn't stay black, it will start turning white, unless you spray it again with some ceramic paint. I felt it put off more heat to my leg than with the heat sheild.
just curious, why can't you get used pipes ceramic coated? I have a set that I've had on my bike for about six months that I was looking to get coated this winter...
According to Jet-Hot, you can get used pipes coated. I asked them about my getting my 07's done and they said its not a problem. Iguess as long as the pipescan stand the cleaning/blasting process your fine.
i have my own powder coating shop and i do ceramic coatings too.yes you can coat used pipes.you are better off using old pipes because the right way to ceramic coat is to strip the part to bare metal so you should have the chrome stripped off...so why mess up a new set of chrome pipes....
I have a question about ceramic coating. I had my pipes done last week and when I went to install them they chip really really easy. I can almost chip the paint off with my finger nail ! How durable is should the paint be ??
Thank you....
Dave...

If they were actually ceramic coated, there's no way it should just chip off. Either they didn't prep correctly, or they didn't actually ceramic coat them...
