Can anyone tell me what the problem is w/a CV 40, when on idle, w/air cleaner off, & looking inside carb..the fuel is dribbling up past the needle valve?? Seemed to stop when I set the needle higher, but to me that just does not make any sense! Bike idles fine & runs very strong, but mileage is the pits above 70mph....I'm talking mid 30's.
Thanx
Maybe too big of a needle, I suggest because I have seen it before but also I have seen junk get past the fuel filter. I had a similar issue on my S&S super-e and there was a ton of poop in the bowl and main jet. I ditched the Pingel filter and went with a clear one zip-tied to the horn to keep it away from the excess heat.
If it just started doing it, it could be dirt.
My Mikuni on my 84 Shovel did that.
Run it and turn the gas off. Let it (almost) run out, while it 's
sputtering turn the fuel back on.
Do that a few times. It might clear out.
May need to drain the gas tank and the float bowl.
The bowl in my Mikuni had all kinds of crap in it.
I took the tanks off & flushed them, and then repl the fule lines.
