The best barging in quality saddlebags out there IMO is Osprey bags check out www.saddlebags.net. David makes a great quality saddlebag at a great price
Quality construction, lockable, and an ingenious quick disconnect system.
I agree, I alos had Boss Springer Style bags on my fatboy but the OP was looking for less expensive options. Osprey bags are $ 500 range Boss are $ 1000.00 range
Hello,
I am looking for information regarding saddlebag brackets. My bike is a 2000 Harley Davidson Softail FXST. When I bought it in January 2005 the bike had saddlebags on it. They are Willie and Max throw overs made of synthetic leather I think. I like the look of throw over bags on my bike. However there are no brackets to support the saddlebags. They guy I bought the bike from simply poked holes in the bags and used zip ties to attach the bags to the frame. This way of affixing said bags to the bike frame works until the zip ties break. It also places the bags way forward of where they should be stationed. When there is a passenger on the bike their feet cannot rest normally on the foot pegs. Due to the improper positioning of the saddlebags. So for now I am simply seeking any input so I can use these Willie and Max throw over bags.

If you want to use those bags, you just need to get a set of saddlebag supports (those U shaped chrome pieces) for your bike. They bolt to the strut and keep the bag away from the suspension. You can then poke holes in the back of the bag in the appropriate places and tie or zip-tie the bags to those supports.
