I was just wondering if any one has tried to retro fit a newer style of air filter housing to an older softail? I have a 93 heritage, and having a hell of a time finding a filter element for it. I ordered on online, and the damn thing got swiped off the porch. Ordered another and it turned out it was back ordered two weeks after it was supposed to show up. All of the indy shops, and even the stealership can't help me. Right now I have the s&s style teardrop off my panhead smashed onto it anytime I want to right it. I do have another filter element coming in the mail any day now, but I would really like to try and mount a housing that is a little more common. Any one have an idea on what might fit? Thanks for the help.
Thanks! I'll take a look, and thats a beauty of a bike. Looks just like the one I'm trying to find parts for. Do you like the S+s carb on it more than the stock? Did you have any problems with the different styles of choke?

Well , I don't think the different styles of choke gonna be any problem ; As long as it works , it's fine , just depend on whether or not do you like the style .

Thanks! There wasn't anything wrong with the stock carb I just wanted an S&S, it is more responsive though. The S&S comes with a choke mounted on the backing plate, I like it better and no problems.
Scratt don't call it a choke or somebody may yell at you. It's an enrichener as there is no plate. I was scolded before... Lol
I think the super-E is a great performing and reliable carb. I have one on my '95 and enjoy it. The big jet is a 72 and I think that may be one size larger than what came with it, I am probably wrong but I just cleaned out the whole thing and the bottom is literally 4 screws and it is off. It is super easy to maintain and the instructions on their website are simple to follow to put it back to shipping specifications. You tune from there, watch their videos on YouTube.

LOL! Yes it's an Enricher. I got lazy.
S&S has the lever mounted to the backing plate that the cover mounts to. The instruction manual that comes with the carb is very good also.
