nice looking ride, how do the pipes compare in sound to the stock ?
Not much louder than stock but deeper rumble.

Have the 07SE's. I just drilled out the 2 small slits thatdon'tgo through the bafflesand got a nice increase in sound.
Heritage07, could you give a little more detail. I'm a little dense and don't quiteunderstand what you did.

Thanks.
If you look inside the Se 07 mufflers all the exhust gasses are directed into the baffle except for 2 small slits that vent directly out the pipe. These slits are only about 1/16" by 1/4". I removed the mufflers and took a very long drill bit and drilled them out to 1/4" round holes. The sound deffinately increased and I was thinking of maybe adding a 3rd hole in eachsince I did not notice any performance decrease.

I have the SEIIs on my 04 Fatboy. These have the crossover tube. The sound is definitely "Harley Davidson" (nice rumble 'bounce' between the piston compressions).

I wouldn't go so much as saying that they are super-loud, though....

I had the SEs put on mine and was very disappointed with the sound. I expected much more sound. I also had the Air Cleaner and Stage 1 download added as well. After about three weeks and several hundred miles later, I was not happy with the almost 1k I spent. I had talked to several other HD owners who had purchased the same things I did and their bikes were much louder. One had removed everything from inside the pipes, baffles and all; another removed the baffles and unwrapped the fiberglass from the baffles and re-installed them and the last; removed the baffles and drilled a lot of extra holes in them and increased the size of the existing ones and re-installed them. All sounded different. I personally liked the gutted ones, they were very load and throatier (if that is a word). I did what he did, removed everything. In return I got a definite increase in performance and granted, they are probably not legal but, who cares, Loud Pipes Save Lives. It does get attention on bike nights at Hooters and on the highway!! They may attract the wrong kind of attention too, be careful if you choose to do this.

I sugggest trying each of what I have described and find the right sound for you. These guys also said they noticed an increase in performance. the gutted one is the fastest of the three. BTW, all of the bikes I spoke of are Softails; Fatboy, a Duece and a Heritage Classic.

I prefer running the 80354-00 (baloney cut) or 80344-00 (slash down) SE2 mufflers on my FatBoy. These are the earlier, original SE2 pipes, without the crossover pipe.

I tried the newer '03' version of the SE2 muffers (with the crossover pipe) and did not like the tone as much. Also, with a SERT and dyno tune the best performance results was with the original "non-crossover pipe" SE2's.
