Was out in Myrtle Beach and noticed I was burning allot of fuel.So when i got home I checked out my power commander and realized I was running really rich.So I got pc on phone and the tech helped me re do a map.Went for a ride last week biked seemed to be running good.probally got about 32k per gallon.Today I took the bike out for a 250 mile ride and the bike is stummbling, puttering ,bogging ,and backfireing.sorry for the long post but I am very frustrated right now I also have auto tune in there.wtf could it be a bad oxygen sensor or something else.I am really not a wrench but trying anything i CAN NOT TO GO TO HARLEY.
I'm not familiar with bike injection systems but with cars unmetered air getting in via a intake leak will cause the computer to max out the mixture so it won't damage anything by being too lean. with the bike running spray carb cleaner around the intake area an if the idle changes it's sucking it in thru a leak. A bad o2 sensor could cause the same thing.
Lots of guys look for the cheapest way out using all diff kinds of tuners.
IMO there are several tuners out there now that are better ones but U'll have to spend some $$$.
I've had my SERT going on 6yrs this yr and its been Perfect..I don't like or want to have to keep messing with it.
I've had two dyno tunes, one when new when I didn stg1, and 2nd one when I did the cams which was FREE, it was all in the winter special deal with the cam install.
Other than that I haven't touched it.
I personally just don't want a piggy back tuner, IMO its just another area that can go wrong.
We each have our own likes and dislikes, For me if I bought another new bike, it'd have the SEPST and dynoed along with a stg`1 and cam job All done at same time, probably before I rode her home instead of at the 1K.
The power commander are pretty bad for a dump after 2 or 3 years. There are several good tuners out there. Some of the more popular ones are : TTS mastertune, Daytona twintech, Power vision, and the sepst. I also suspect your tuner has crapped out. I personally use the sepst with a good dyno tune.
