Default Two up on the fatboy

OK, just got the fatboy this spring and my wife has gone on a couple of short rides with me - 30 to 45 minutes. She's not too happy with the comfort level. Anyone added the touring passenger pillion (14") and been happy with it - or should I say has your passenger been happy with it? Guess I will also be getting a sissy bar with pad, and wondered whether anyone has used the "Detachable Adjustable Bar" and had any comment. Is there a better two up solution? Thanks.

Another option is spend a few bucks on a 1piece for 2 up. Good thing my OL isn't interested on long trips...or else I be looking to Mustang for swapping back and forth.

The backseat is not a comfortable place to be unless you put a better seat there, and a backrest, and maybe some different footpegs or boards so they can move their feet/legs around. The stock fatboy seat really sucks in my opinion, hard and flat. I moved up to putting the heritage seat on our fatboy, much better for the driver and a little better for the passenger, still not a really long distance seat for sitting on the back.

I dont blame her one bit for being unhappy. Heck, I switched the stock seat for a touring seat for my own confort and I ride my own..........I cant imagine anyone being comfortable sitting on that p pad for any length of time. Maybe you can suggest she taking a Riders Edge class and then get her a nice used Sportster??? so she can ride her own like I do. You'll have a riding partner and she'll be confy in the drivers seat. But in the mean time, I'd get the touring seat for sure.

She actually took the course, has her license, and a little Ninja. She isn't comfortable in the front seat. Thinking some time riding will ease some of the anxiety - although I'd be much more anxious in the back. Don't even like the right hand seat in a cage. We'll see whether some time with her knees in the breeze makes her more determined to ride one up?

I bought the touring pillion and detach back rest for the wife and she loves the difference. Before she could only handle 45 min or so but after the change she could ride all day. Now she has her own bike 2007 883L with a modified Mustang Vintage wide touring seat and I can't keep her off the bike.

Yea, sounds like nerves. I was like that too. Bought the Low Rider before I took the class. First ride was 40 miles and I couldn't wait to get off it. I was scared out of my mind. Got a different seat and lowered the bike by 2" so my feet could touch the ground. Gradually built up my confidence and now I cant wait to ride and even ride by myself. Take her on short hops, avoid heavy traffic situations and maybe even take her to a big empty parking lot to practice. Took me a good year of riding to be brave enough to venture onto a freeway.
But I do love the Touring seat for myself and the back pad is thick and wide for luggage or a passenger..........as you can see in my signature photo

My wife says the backrest & boards help the most.

1. touring seat
2. detachable sissybar with pad
3. passenger floorboard
4. fender foot pegs.

I came up with #4 idea from what rider has. I have floor boards and highway pegs. Why not passengers have these options like me? Luckily softails have fender strut for addition device you can attach. Last weekend we went on a test ride to see how fender peg was gonna help. She could not be happier.
Look at the pictures..
