Pulling Left
Has anyone heard of a 2012 Deluxe pulling to the left? I brought it to the Dealer and the tech could not identify the problem. The front brake, caliper, rear and front wheel and heads were checked. Does anyone have and idea or a lead? Thanks
I also have to 2012 deluxe with the same problem. Have you by any chance changed the exhaust on the bike? I bought mine recently and before i drove off, had them do a full stage 1 and they installed vance and hines softail duals. IT has pulled to the left since day one. Harley is telling the dealer that the exhaust system is causing the lean, vance and hines tech calls bullshit. what gives!
My Fatboy did the same thing since new. If I lift my hands from the bars, it tracked pretty strong to the left. I also had the dealer tech tell me it was the exhaust. Claimed some kind of BS about the weight. My brother in law has a FB lo with short shots that weigh less than mine and it goes straight as an arrow. I checked alignment and everything was within specs. I changed tires, wheels, swingarm bushings etc and it was still there. I had another dealer tell me that it is because the left side is heavier due to primary. I asked him if this is so, why do most track true. Of course, he had no answer. I finally started playing with my rear tire alignment myself and and made slight adjustments until it tracked straight. Measuring it shows about a 1/4" difference, but I have not had any excessive or unusual tire wear in the 2000 or so miles since I made the adjustment. I'm sure it's not the correct solution, but mine does track straight now, so I'll let it be.

Its absolutely the correct solution! I have argued with more people on this forum who do not understand what axle adjusters do, or why they are even there. Kudos to your sir. If the bike does not track straight you adjust the rear axle adjusters, its as simple as that. If the bike tracks to the left, adjust the right adjuster. If it tracks to the right, adjust the left adjuster. Always keeping belt tension in mind as you make adjustments.
Screw measuring the axle adjusters. Our frames & swing arms weren't built precise enough for that to offer any accuracy.
Funny that I have never heard of anyone saying that their scoot pulls to the right. Myself included... i do think that weight could be a factor and that the adjusting we do is just compensation and not necessarily making it track more true. just imho.

Damn, Damn, damn, learn something new on this forum every time I get on here! I've been messing with the front end since I had it torn down, checking the front wheel alignment, caliper etc etc!
Not that I take both hands off often, but once in a while it'd be nice to text the OL to warn her I'm almost home so I don't come home to any surprises!!
JUST KIDDING.
It's Friday!
