All right - dumb question. What's the difference between paint and powder coat? Was always curious about this. Thanks.
I was waiting for this question lol. Powder coat is a polymer powder that is applied the the surface of the material using a negative charge. The it gets baked on at a high temperature (400-450*) and the polymer melts and forms a solid coat that is very tough and cheaper to apply than paint.
Paint is simply a fine mist of pigment and generally doesn't last as long and is not as durable.
Both can chip and paint is easier to repair however. And paint is still used because it allows the use of graphics and the sort.
I'm sure google might have a better answer but that's what I know about it.
