Default Ape hanger ? ...again

I have an 06 deluxe thatI want to put some apes on, Im not sure what size. Looking for some help. Im6-1 and roughly 215lbs. At 1stI was going to go with the 12" Wild Ones but know Im leaning towards 16' Wild Ones. My concerns with the 16's is the handeling, shoulder height and the so called parachute effect. Help me out guys looking for some input. Thanks alot.

These are 16's. He is nowhere near your size. BTW, they are generic swapmeet specials. I think they were less than 100 bucks.

I'm 6' 3" with 18s so 16s should be just about right.

Mine are shoulder height and v v comfortable.

I've got 12" on my '06 Softail Standard. They're right at my shoulders and I'm 5'7". Kind of wish I'd went with 14", but the apes are more comfy than I thought they'd be.

I have 12.5" Wild one bars on my bike. My buddy currently has 16" apes on his bike and is in the process of upgrading them to 20" apes. He rode my bike and said that my bars were much more comfortable than his 16" bars and he is 6' tall. His opinion was that mine were more comfortable but his looked better.

You've got to check out "chilango"s' deluve on page 45 and 46 of the "deluxe pictures" thread:

https://www.hdforums.com/m_197514/mpage_45/tm.htm

There is multiple pics on those pages of his bike at different angles. I think he said he was running 18"s'.

The thing is friggin' hot!

From 12" to 16" I think it all depends on the grip height you find most comfortable.. As you can see Rick's 12.5" bars put the grip right about shoulder height, whereas xxxflhrci's bars have his grips up around his chin or maybe a little higher even. I'm pretty much set on going with 12" or 12 1/2" bars myself.. just a bit higher than my current OEM heritage classic bars.

Mine are 12.5" and are good in town and on the long haul (12 hr days) and you can use the stock wire and cables. I'm 5.11" and could handle a couple more inches but too cheap to buy new cables. Hope this helps.
