I just snagged a set of black dealer take off tins from Ebay for my 08 Night train. I was wondering and tips or trick to remove the old ones and reinstall the new ones safely without scratches or dings. How do you get the fuel sending unit out? Whats the step by step way to do it the easiest? Thanks in advance!
Here's a good site for parts break downs: http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche....-PUMP-ASSEMBLY
I put blue painters tape on the tins being removed and installed to prevent scratches but maybe a better way out there.
Fuel pump aint too bad. I do recommend replacing the clear fuel line in the tank with Gates/Napa submersible fuel hos. Never have to worry about a pin hole in the line.
Did a complete tin swap on my brothers bike recently. You will just need to take your time and watch how things come apart to put them back together do it one part at a time. The fuel tank is not hard except for the fuel guage as the wire plug will not fit up through the metal tube that runs throught the tank to the guage. So you can either cut it and splice it or if you can take pin connectors apart. (I was gonna try it but my brother had zero patience and cut it so we had to solder it back together later.) set the tanks side by side on work bench and move the pieces from the inside from one to the other and it should go smooth.
