A wind shield would be nice for highway riding (70+ mph) but like you, I would have to get a quick disconnect one so I can take it off for scotting around town.
I assume they are an easy install? I can't imagine what a stealer would charge to install it.
It doesnt leave any hardware on the bike. Off in less than a second. When i get back to a computer ill post a link and take a pic of mine. Honestly dont like em and only use it below freezing and in heavy rains.

At highway speeds with no windshield and no helm (or just a half helm) all you're gonna hear is wind. 3/4 helm changed my riding experience completely at high speeds. Very little wind noise and I can actually hear the bike.
With just ear plugs you'll have to go completely by vibration.
Stock cans and earplugs made it impossible for me to tell what gear I was in at speed. SE slipons fixed that issue. As for feel, yes, feel for the speed you're going, but vibration wise, I don't rev high at all so there is very little diff unless I'm really opening her up.
