Thanks gents for the compliments! I haven't wandered into this thread for a few weeks, but it's nice to see my project is still inspiring others.

I must say though, there are some great looking springers in this thread - it's one of my favorites to read through.

I love Redbeards bike, he inspired me to finish working on mine. I lost interest awhile back. I was actually in contact with him as I was doing the bars and cables.

Your bike looks great, I like the finned cam cover.

You didn't ask for my lousy opinion but I'll offer it anyway...lol if I was you I'd get a black Crossbones cat eye dash like Redbeard719...

Well it's pretty obvious I need a new brake line and my idle and throttle cables have seen better days, so I might as well swap those too. Anyone have any pointers on cleaning up my wiring so it doesn't look so damn lazy? I know I can always go internal, but I'd have to extend them for sure that way. How about external? Any pointers?

If you're going so far as to replace cables, you might as well run them internally. Nothing will look cleaner than that. Running them external will be Zip-Tie Central....

Plus, it's only 12 wires or so that need to be extended. Just make sure you write down the wire locations for each socket. And stagger your solder joints so you don't have one fat lump of connections.

End of season blues...
Cleaned garage, washed bikes and cars all day and as usual, no good deed goes unpunished...

Question: The throttle cables on this thing are hosed.. It appears they get a nice smash job on full lock to the right..

I see comments about routing internally... is that an option on these beach bars?

^^^ Now that's a nice looking garage!

Chances are you're missing the proper throttle cable guide on the right side, the instructions when you install the windshield bracket are a little confusing and I've seen folks install the wrong one or none at all. With no guide, the cables can get pinched between the fork stops and frame.

Here's the instructions, if you need a pic let me know.

As far as internal cables, I think it can be done but it's not easy. Not much room for wires and cables in the bars. Someone on here did it with a springer but with T-bars if I recall. I'll try to find the thread and post up for you and you can ask him about the process.

For starters, nice bike man! Bars look at home on the springer

What Redbeard said, internal lines for everything cleans it up nicely. Grip ace to go that one step further if you want to lose the controls too

I run my brake line and throttle internal, tight tight squeeze in the RSD bars with how the run one bar half inside the other, but it worked out.

Got to get the right grip on, but apart from that's the bars finished

RandallJ this ones for you too.
I cut the grip ace switches in under my left grip. Only two wires (in one insulation) you have to worry about then

in limbo for a while. i only in the last month or so can really "see" what i want to end up with and been doing a (very slow) parts collection. probaly going to take the front fender off when i change front tire (and need to get another bike off the jack to do that) 'til i can get a rear fender back on, 'cause it looks kind of lopsided right now.
