Default Softail Deuce seat recommendations

I have burnt the keys up on my PC doing research on a replacement seat for my Deuce. Of course you get the good, bad and the ugly of all the makers but would like to get feedback on those that have replaced their OEM seat with aftermarket/good seats. There are two that I have been looking at rather seriously, that being the Saddlemen Explorer and the only other seat HD offers for my model, the Sundowner Deep Bucket. Still open minded to those seats that have been proven to good quality and comfortable for all day riding. Thanks again.

It ain't the seat the causes all the pain... its the Ergo of the bike,, forward controls and the bar placement will cause U more pain than the seat..

My son who's in great shape and never had back issues, bought a 07 Duece and 09 NT, Then he got a 10 St Glide and now can ride all day where as the other two bikes about 2hrs was it before his back started hurting him...Yeah and he was 26 and came off several CR's..

I always thought the stock seat was excellent, but needed a backrest, which is key.

The Sundowner was okay but looked horrible. Ended up with a Corbin that was a little stiff and so ridiculously tall for the passenger, I had the thickness cut down by 1/2 and took out the passenger backrest hardware.

Then I did the plug-in-play and tall backrest. Lot's of trial and error.

C&C seat with backrest. Lepera is also a good one but I do not think you can get the backrest. A backrest will make a huge difference.good luck.

I talked to a custom seat builder and he told me to bring him a sundowner seat and my bike and he would make an all day seat for me. I had several seats for mine, original, sundowner (didn't like), corbin (felt like upholstered concrete to me), drag specialties (upholstered HY-80 steel), and settled on a Harley flame patterned two up leather seat I found on ebay, that took some break in, but it is comfy for both, which was what we couldn't say about the other seats. The one she liked, I hated, or vice versa. Still considering the custom sundowner recommendation. When we want distance and comfort though, we take the ultra.

I had/have the Sundowner and found it to be pretty comfortable for about 5 hours. After that the ridge around the edge of the seat would press into my hamstrings and cause numbness and tingling. I picked up a Corbin Gunfighter and Lady with one back rest. It's a very comfy seat, especially with the back rest. My wife hasn't ridden with the Corbin yet so the jury is still out on that. She likes the Sundowner so I'm keeping that in case she hates the Corbin. (I may send it to Mean City to fix the ridge.)

For everyday riding/commuting I use the stock seat.

Default Seat choice

I have runs several seats on my deuce, factory, HD Sundowner and a C&C custom lowrider seat. I just finished a 2500 mile trip on my deuce with about a dozen friends. The Sundowner was awesome for that purpose. No butt soreness AT ALL!! Some of my friends on touring bikes could not say the same. But foor bar-hoppingI go with the low profile custom C&C with a gel insert. One note on that seat, you can feel the ignition box through the padding in the back of the low profile seat, so for long rides, you might want a gel pad or something.

Anyone try the La Pera Bare Bones and/or the Bare Bones Up Front? I've been given short legs courtesy of my dad and my stock and Badlander seats fit fine but i want a solo. I'm 5'7", and would be curious if anyone has tried both. Anyone?

Thanks in advance, love the deuce!
