I have been riding a 2002 Dyna Wide Glide for the last 4 years. And I loved that thing. About a month ago I was hit by a car that turned into me. The bike was totaled out by insurance. It isn't in terrible shape and my plan is to rebuild it over time.
However, in the mean time I want to get another bike and I've been leaning toward a Deluxe. I really like the classic look and how much customization you can do to them.
What I'm looking for is just some in site. What do people think about them that have them/have had them?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I love my deluxe. Very classic looking and clean. I say go for it, the 103" motor has good power, ride is good and handles good. It's my first Harley though, but the customization is endless and bank account killing.

very sorry to hear about the accident, glad to note that you're ok and looking forward to a new beginning...to answer your question/s:
a. i loved my 06 FLSTNI...customization is limitless all depends on how much you want to "invest"
b. i always break it down into two:
- performance upgrades
- looks
c. great looks, the nostalgic/old school classic look is timeless, with the right upgrades/mods it looks very classy...
my humble opinion, the 2-tone is always nice...and if you plan on doing long rides (> 50 miles), quality seat, highway pegs, crash bar are basic essentials...
After spending some time looking for a different bikes myself (and the Deluxe was considered), you need to ask yourself a few questions that revolve the use and purpose of the bike.
For example, I wanted mine for more 2-up riding. And while the Deluxe would work great, it would have cost me a fair amount to upgrade the seating and to be able to get some decent bags (most bags are rather small for the Deluxe). Just some things to consider.
