Glad to hear your alright and looking to get back in the saddle! I don't think you'd ever have any regrets if you picked up a Deluxe. Obviously I love the hell out of mine. Buy a Deluxe! lol
The Deluxe is the best looking bike Harley is currently making, IMO. I came close to buying an '06 before I was able to talk the PO of my Heritage Springer into selling it. Hopefully one day I will be able to get a clean '05 or '06 carb'd Deluxe to go along with my Springer.
I love mine. If you change the stock exhaust you can put any bags on or anything else you want.
And no offense HD street bob, but why did you get small bags if that's why you leaned away from the deluxe
Because the previous owner put them on. And they are actually larger than they look, but not as large as I'd like. The gap between the bottom and the exhaust makes them look smaller than they are.
The Deluxe is a like Harley's Swiss Army knife. You can make it anything you want, reletively easy and they always manage to look good. I love the white walls on them but they get annoying to keep clean. The Deluxe can also be a little cramped especially if you're tall. Will most like need to do some seat work and push out the boards a little. Other than that, its a perfect bike.
Love my Deluxe. I just wish I'd gone two tone. I've just started with the mods on mine. It's amazing how much you can do do these bikes. Of course, you won't be able to afford food, shelter and other non essentials.

I hear you, I wanted the colbolt/white two tone. But the new 2010 was only 1k more and I didn't like the black ice, too purple for me
Gotta agree no mistake with the Deluxe, comfortable handles great rides low looks amazing and limitless ways to customize, gives me the ability to ride 2 up whenever the wife wants to ride. Teflon
pretty good multi use bike too, i have the leatherpro bags and tour pack for the long rides, motherwell solo rack, cavalry customs drivers backrest, 900 miles to sturgis wasnt a problem, i keep on kicking around the idea of getting a road king but the increased weight is whats holding me back, short inseam makes this bike too good to let go, now if i rode two up most of the time maybe my mind would change
