Thanks for all of the responses. My 02 was fuel injected and I had Jim Nasse cheatin death pipes on it. Also had a power commander. Currently have V&H BR 2 into 2. I really didn't think that pipes would make a whole lot of difference. I took the baffles out of the BR and really noticed no difference in sound. They just sound tinney/raspy instead of deep and throaty. My other pipes when I rolled slowly down oldtown mainstreets people turned their heads now they don't even know I am coming. It really is not so much the loudness as it is the tone.
I have the samsom streetsweepers, not too bad, but I just ordered some twisted choppers coated/wrapped dual head pipes with torque cones, will dump right behind the motor.
I have the 2012 Lo with the V&H BR 2 into 2 with the stock baffles. It is a little louder than I would like and it definitely has the decel pop thing going on. Probably going to try the BCT QQ baffles. Other than the decel pop and the "little loud for an old guy" thing, I like the sound. This is my first Harley, so i don't really have anything to compare it to. Since you are pulling baffles out, and I'm looking to add them, it appears like we might be looking for a different kind of sound.
If you are experiencing a considerable amount of decel popping it may be due to headers not being seated correctly. You can mix up some dawn soap and a little water in a spray bottle and spray around the flanges. Do this when the engine is cold. Crank the bike and check for bubbles. If bubbles then you have a gasket or fitment issue.
