I needed to get a set of long-shaft torx sockets (really just the T-45), and ring-opening/spreader pliers for the expansion clip, for the removing and replacing passenger footpeg when installing slip-ons. The usual torx socket will not fit and/or reach far in enough to get to the bolt head in the footpeg post.

That''s a good kit. I've certainly built a kit comparable to that over the years, and spent more than that getting there.

I believe you need a T-27 for the derby cover (at least that's what I needed on my Dyna. Haven't checked that yet on my Fatty).

The most important tool is a Harley Service Manual!

Been watching. As much as I'd like to get a table lift I'm not sure my garage has the space for it (yet).

This is the best lift for the money by far. Most of the time you can find a 20% off coupon to use along with the sale price. Thats exactly what I did so mine was $144 plus tax. I went to the store since I have one close.

To the OP, a lift is a must if you dont have one. That is right at the top of the most basic tools list.

There is a store not far from me. That's a good price. I'll swing by and grab one.

A torx socket set is pricless to any harley owner. About every fitting is a torx and not allen keys. A Craftsmen mechanics tool set and 7 peice torx socket set is all you really need for addons and general maitenence. Also harbor frieght's motorcycle lift is perfectly fine for home garage use and makes life a hell of a lot easier.
