Shocks for Heritage
I couldn't agree more with the other comments. The Heritage is a great bike. Compared to the Road King, you sit more "in the bike" on the Heritage so some people find that more comfortable with a feeling of a lower center of gravity.
As far as suspension upgrades go, like PA1195 said, you can adjust the preload of your stock shocks to compensate for the weight better. They are set at the lightest wight setting from the factory.
Or, you can upgrade your shocks by going with a set of Progressive Suspension 422 shocks that are fully height and preload adjustable and really improve the ride and handling characteristics of the Softails. They are reasonably priced and the next step up as far as budget friendly solutions. You can find them on our site here.
Progressive also offers an Air Tail (air ride) suspension kit that is more expensive, but completely tunable to exactly how you like your suspension. You can see those here.
And, like others have said, you can opt for a Shotgun shock set up. I don't have personal experience with that system, but from what I hear, it is a good setup. The only downside is that it is pricey.
Best of luck in whichever way you decide to go. If I can help you out in any way, please let me know.

Thanks Dead Creek. I upgraded my 06 sporty with progressive 412s and was Very impressed
I will likely make similar shock upgrades when I get my Heritage.
I'll check your shop out when I am ready
