I've got a 2010 Heritage...this is what I use when I'm going for any distance and need to pack clothes. Good quality, and doesn't break the bank. You just need to practice wrapping the straps around your sissy bar to figure out what works best for you:
I went the other direction and used a sissy bar bag, bolted on to the back rest. Holds a couple shirts, water... Its for sell if interested. $35 shipped. I now have a detachable tour pack.
Bag that I use, great bag for $50 holds water bottles on both sides, easy for the pass to reach back and grab on the go. And plenty of room on the inside....
Used it this year to go for a few nights trip and the wife couldn't believe how much she was able to get into the bag and how nice it looks on the heritage. We got the one without all the studs and very happy with its performance and would recommend it to others.
Have a Harley Messenger bag I got off a fellow forum member to throw on the back of the bike for a short jaunt. It holds a few things but does the job we require it to do. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US
