super E jetting for 99 heritage
ok everyone. I have been a stalker on here long enough. Time to post something. So I put a S&S super E on my 99 stock 80Ci EVO along with some python 2 into 1 baffled pipes. the previous straight pipes had blown my ears out long enough. For anyone with experience on a super E carb how do these setting sound? I started tuning with the .295 intermediate and then went up to the .31 The 31 sounded best at about 1 1/4 turns out on the mixture screw. I thought it was a little rich so I went back to the .295 and am about 1 1/2 turns out on the mixture screw. Along with the .70 main jet it seems to be running pretty good. im reluctant to go any leaner being that this is the first carb I have tuned. Does it sound like im close? any suggestions?

If it runs good and doesnt pop or cut out, its probably good. Take a good ride on the freeway and pull the plugs to see the color, should be a sand color. I have the same carb on my EVO but have the Hooker staggered pipes. I had a flat spot at mid throttle, so I called S&S, I was lean with the 025 intermediate and the 066 main. They told me to run a 295 intermediate with the 72 main, she purs like a kitten now throughout the whole throttle range.

Don't know about tuning a bike carb, but if it was me I would get it close as you seem to have done and take it for a nice ride and read the plugs when I got back.

S&S calls for : Intermediate Jet .028 to .031 , Main Jet .066 to .074 on a 80". At 1 to 1 1\2 turns. Sounds like you found the sweet spot...But for sure take her out an run her.You can always tweak it a little with the accel. pump and mixture screw.............
