for those of you that have the springers, do they handle a lot differently??
It took about 1000 mi to break the front end in, but since themn its handled GREAT! the only downside (for some riders, not me) is that the floor boards scrape like CRAZY on some twisty roads, other than that its MONEY! Plus the FLSTSC has a really tight turning radius as well
You can say that again! My boards scrape constantly when the wife is riding with me... She has finally gotten used to it and it doesn't hurt her teeth anymore... Actually I need to upgrade the stock shocks with either an air ride or go with something like Progressive's that can be adjusted easier than the stock ones.
The Springer seems to naturally ride lower than others...I'm told when we're riding double the muffler tips sit about an inch off the road...I know, I know...the wife weighs only 120. so I'm off the hook for that one. My boards have about a half inch scraped off each one and the bottom of my muffler tips are flattened out too. Maybe if I don't run so hard through the sweepers and the curves they won't scrape..
Maybe I'll put those spark blocks under the boards and then at night people can hear and see me leaning into the corners.

Oh man I hit the dragon & was sparking like crazy! i got about 1/2 in gone as well! ONLY MY BOARDS though not my muffler tips My mufflers are fishtails but dont stick out far SE1s i love em
Even the techies at the HD shop can't believe how smooth it is
I have an 07 Springer Classic...just got it 3-4 weeks ago. My first harley. What the heck, start at the top!
Before buying it i test drove an 05 Sprg Classic. It DID seem really smooth when i hit 75mph. Felt like i was coasting almost.
My 07 seems to have more vibration than the 05 i rode. Granted, i only rode the 05 for 30 min and only 5-6 mi on freeway.
Perhaps it's the diff pipes. The 05 i rode had two-into-one on the right side only whereas my 07 has the crossover duals with V&H mufflers. Perhaps it's the bigger motor?
may be it needs valve/cam adjustment or something. It had only 2600 mi when i got it (later Feb 2010). Perhaps cuz it had been ridden so little it wasn't broken in properly.
dunno!
But ur right about the 05. I couldn't believe how smoothe it ran. I sure can't say the same about my 07. It has that old timey feeling. Which, i suppose ain't a bad thing, eh?
