Suicide Shifter on Deluxe?

Humm, it's suicide clutch with a "hand" or "jockey" shift. What did you do with the clutch?
I chose not to adapt a jockey or a foot clutch for safety purposes
It's unsafe as it is shifting as you reach from the right to the left where the Jockey shifter is. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to balance the moto as you start from a dead stop on a curved hill?[&:] Having both hands on the apes from a dead stop is safer than trying to balance while pressing the clutch with a foot or a clutch on the shifter.
The way I decided is more practical and it looks cleaner. Just my opinion.

What type of horn do you have on your Deluxe?
It's a siren. It sound pretty loud, not as loud as a real siren, but loud enough to get people's attention.

Thanks for the complements!

You really need to rethink that contraption. Having a hand shift and a hand clutch is a disaster looking for a place to happen, unless you put the clutch lever on the shift lever. The way you're running, there ain't no such thing as safe downshifting. Heck, there ain't no safe upshifting! And then there's the little problem of needing to grab some front brake while you're trying to shift. Don't kid yourself that you can just use the back brake, or that you can get your mind to tell your hands to stop the shifting and do some braking 'cause there's a blue-hair pulling outta the side street.
An outfit called LaBriola makes a suicide clutch/jockey shift setup for Sloptails. I've been running the clutch end for about 2 years. Works good. Hotop makes a setup that uses a hydraulic clutch. Or you can make a suicide clutch pedal from your stock shift pedal.
I've ridden rocker clutches and suicide clutches nearly all the 33+ years I've been riding. Once you get used to 'em, they are the ****. Just make sure you have a front brake!
(And I have the scars to show what eventually happens to almost all suicide/jockey riders without a front brake!)Twolast things - all that extra weight on the shift lever bushing will cause it to wear rather quickly, and have you found the point at which the lever will vibrate in sync with the engine, and smack your gas tank?
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders

I've been riding for twenty plus years and have never fallen--knock on wood, and that includes riding street bikesalmost allthose years!!!
Now, You can down shift, but only when both hands are on the bars...that is, when yourelease the clutch.
Poco, you'd be surprised. the Deluxe does not shake or vibrate, like, let say a Road King, or any other touring bike. I don't know if it's the mounts or what, but the shifter is pretty steady, even at 90 MPH! This was one of my concerns also.
I kept up with my homeboys on Sunday no problem. It was tricky the first minute, after that I was fine.
Heck, if I get tired of it, I'll go back to stock in literally two minutes!!!
Note of Caution:
Emergency moves will be adversly and dramatically be affected. So people, if you are not an experienced rider, I suggestyou don'tmake this adjustment on yourHarley.

I believe most reading this thread are completely missing the point of my first post. In "biker" lingo. There is no such thing as a suicide shifter. Read original post carefully. Posers are easy to spot, so "let's be careful out there." (My favorite tv phase)
