Precisely why I didn't seriously start riding the streets until age 50! Now, age 51, kids off my payroll, no commitments other than a mortgage and a wife, and enough life insurance to make all my survivors comfortable for the rest of their lives... I ride EVERY chance I get. I plan my life around riding. I love riding so much I dream about it.

I've had plenty of close calls... 90% of them involved young women (16 to 30). Most of those were cell phones and texting. Exactly 1 of my close calls was an elderly male. Exactly 1 of them was a trucker who couldn't see me because of my own stupidity. A select few of them have been random idiots with absolutely no awareness of their surroundings.

Loud pipes seem to make no difference. In my experience it is all about being seen... not heard. But my experience is quite limited compared to others.

I'm probably a dork for having this on a Harley, but I've got one of the modulating/flashing headlights now. Seems to make a huge difference.

After my crash, I remembered that I'd seen a few bikes with these, and they had really caught my attention!

This. People wake up real quick when you pull a handful of ball bearings out of your windsheild bag and smash out one of their windows with em

Following would be keeping the conventional headlight, out of fear that the modulating one might be un-cool.

If you sell now be prepaired to take a bath on it as you have a lot of miles compaired to others on the market. Here a tank would be a good option to trade up to
bullets are you serious man ?

Firemans HID headlight set up is the way to go in front...I hate those things but you cant miss them when they are in your face. I just put a pattern strobe on my brake lights, good mod...they get noticed.

Leave the ball bearings at home and get some nuts and bolts...can't prove that they weren't already ON the road wear as a hand full of ball bearings is suspect...

Or move to a state with a Castle Doctrine law and concealed carry, and at the point in time that you feel your life is threatened you can get thier attention for real.

Or just drive defensively.
