Best way to get to know your bike. Start with the simple stuff and work your way up.

If you can remove the shocks and take them in with the bolts, they'll charge you about an hour. IIRC mine cost me about $60. I usually do most of my own work, but I don't have a press and wasn't willing to rig up some contraption and risk breaking a shock, or my face, in the process. So don't feel bad about reaching out to a professional every now and again!

Can't believe there is not a sticky thread on this topic yet. It seems like this comes up on here every day!

Could have done the setup myself, but I had my trusty dealer install the H-D kit on my bike. They charge $60/HR labor and had me out in 45 min, also adjusted the preload on the shocks.

Dropped the *** end about 2". Bike looks good, handles great, no problems solo or 2 up.

You could also trying this lowering kit where you don't have to remove the shocks. It won't go to 2" but will do 1-1/2".

This kit is adjustable and doesn't require you to take the shocks apart. You might want to check your ride height after dropping it about an inch. Most of the bikes you see lowered look good when parked, and then sag another inch when the rider sits on them. Might be at the right height once you're compressing the shocks with you on the bike. Just my .02, YMMV.

you dont need a press, you just need a floorjack (and something sturdy to apply reverse pressure on the top of the shock), and a piece of 2" diameter pipe about 2-3" in length or something similar just to fit over the eyehole, so you can apply pressure to the shock body evenly.

I think someone already said this one, but has anyone used this lowering kit?

I works by adding a collar to the outside of your existing shock bolt and replacing the cup washers, without having to remove the shocks at all?

If someone has used this, how long did it take? What tools did you use?

I havent used it but I can say it will not lower your bike as low as the lowering bolts do. You can get a full 2" sometimes little more out of the bolts the kit you linked only goes 1.5". Sounds trivial but makes alot of difference visually.
