Bought them lowering bolts off ebay middle of winter and just now got around to putting them in. Quite a challenge considering I don't have a press and don't have a bench vice. Ingenuity wins the day though.
Don't forget to hole-saw a hole through the 2x4s so the shock eyelet has somewhere to sit and not bind when you hit it with the jack.
Parts:
The bike sits and rides incredible! (man, did that Heritage sit high!) Set it up as low as it would go. Bike has lower center of gravity that's really noticible. Best mod yet. (at least it will hold me until a set of Shotgun shocks come along)
I agree! Bought the cheapest kit I could find on eBay and couldn't be happier with it. Funny thing is, my buddy bought one of the $100 "kits" and got the same exact bolts and photocopied instruction sheet I got for $18!
Nice, I bought the ones off ebay also... great quality and love the look and feel of the stiff ride. They will also hold my over till I can buy the Shotgun Shocks aswell.. I used a drill press to take mine apart, couldnt be happier.
I can't notice a difference really. Same shock, not compressed, just lowered. The only realistic thing you could notice would be bottoming out sooner, but haven't noticed that yet.
So, I'm going to argue against the ride being stiffer. Same shock and it's not compressed, so I don't know where that comes from. Sure it will bottom out sooner, that's a given, but my god that thing was sitting high, so there's plenty of room to play.
