I am not sure if this has been posted before. I am curious as to what tires people are riding on and how many miles you have gotten from them. I do realize there are many factors involved in wear of tires but just trying to get some general numbers. I got 8000 miles off my Metzler ME 880 on the rear.
Your doing better than me by a long shot. Just replaced my 200/50/R 17 Metzler 880 with 4300 miles on it. Had cords showing in one spot. Our Alaska roads are hard on tires but should be able to do better than that. I was running 40lbs of air and ck it often. I did have a flat last month but plugged it to get home and took a few weeks to get a new tire. This was the third tire in 11k so went with a General Altima 205/55R 17 car tire. Thought I'd give it a whirl for milage. Rides much better but replaced the shocks at the same time so not sure what's doing what yet.
I just changed to michlins on my softail custom, been checking up on blogs and the general consences claims twice the milage, we will see, so far i have about 1000 on them . they ride great and hold the road just as good.
2010 Heritage, mostly solo riding on secondary roads. Rear tires, 5200-5500 on Dunlops, Metzler 880s about 6000, trying out some Michelins now. I've probably read the same stuff everyone else has about Michelins and we'll all see. I have about 2000 on em now, should know the truth soon enough. Got 22,000 out of a stock Dunlop on the front and have a Michelin on there now.
Just replaced my 200/50/R 17 Metzler 880 with 4300 miles on it.
The 200/50/R17 (Avons, Metz, Dunlops, etc.) start out with less tread depth than the other sizes.
I average about 7k on mine with the last 1k starting to get really thin.
I wore out one Dunlop in under 4k.
My bike likes the Avons best.
I've got over 14,000 miles on my Metzler 880, front and rear. Just now thinking about replacing them and in total shock at what the stealer wants. think I may have to stick with the Metzlers since the mileage has been so good.
