So I bought a new wide glide front wheel for my 09 night train from the local hd dealership and I figured it would cost me a little extra to get put on since that wheel may not matchup exactly. What I did not expect was for the service guy to call me and tell me the brand new wheel I bought from the hd dealership needed to be trued and it would cost me another $200. Why should I be responsible for their mistake????? Am I crazy or is this bs?
Sounds like you better break out the KY. But seriously, this is just a guess but there could possibly be a slight difference in the way the WideGlide wheel tracks under the fender compared to the NightTrain so the rim offset may need to be adjusted. Resulting in the need to move the rim to one side or the other by loosing the spokes on one side and tightening the opposite side.

If that was the case , he still should have been informed about the potential problem. Return the wheel and don't pay them a dime.
Tod, reading your first post you ask "why should you be responsible for thier mistake?" What mistake did they make?
Man in Black, if it was a special order, which most parts ordered at an HD dealership are, then there are no refunds at the majority of them.

Ok so after explaining to the service guy I wasn't going to pay them to true the wheel he changed his tune. I did have to pay a little extra to get it spaced right but that was expected. Ghostrider, the mistake I was referring to was getting a brand new factory part that was defective. I'll throw some pictures up when I get a chance.
