Default Shifter linkage...

Was checking into purchasing an extended heel shifter lever for the Heritage, and talked to the folks at Baker Customs/Sikk Shift; here's their link:
http://www.bakercustominc.com/index.html

My question is, the gentleman I spoke with said changing out the factory linkage setup should be one of the first mods, as the pressed in swivel on the linkage ends will break sooner than later. I haven't heard of any issues with these. Sales pitch BS?

I read through here on occasion where the factory rod ends came apart.. usually about 15-20k when they pop..

I couldn't justify spending that kind of coin for a rod 12" long with some heim joints.. I made up my own out of aluminum rod that i had left over from our 1/4 midget days. Painted it a semi gloss black and looks good to go..

Not sayin' they ain't cool and don't bother, but I have never had one break. Every bike I have had way more than 20K miles.

Kinda' what I was thinking, just wanted to check with y'all. In all the vehicles and equipment I've worked on, never had one fail. Thanks!
