Looking at several options for the rear of my bike and came across this idea looking at a new Blackline at the dealership.
Since a lot of guys have put 200mm struts, fenders and seats on older bikes (currently highest option on my list, along with the 200mm tire of course), what would keep me from using my current 150mm tire/wheel and putting the Blackline fender strut combo on it?
To me it appears that it would require the same mods as the 200mm upgrade, minus the drivetrain stuff.
IIRC, the blackline comes stock with a 140 tire, which is smaller than the stock 05 train tire. If you want the fender look, just go to the dealer and measure between the struts. Chance are the new blackline and the 150 trains have an almost identical rear setup, aside from maybe belt width and axle sizes. You may be able to just blot up a fender.
I've since started down the 200mm rear path. Really like the Fatboy chrome rear wheel with the small holes...so figuring out the 25mm bearing to 3/4 axle conversion is my newest project. Hoping the machine shop can "fix" the wheel to accept the wider bearing.
Maybe someone will put the Blackline fender and struts on an older bike so we can see what it looks like. Still think it would be a fairly easy swap.
