Default Why 1996?

Can anyone please explain why I can't find a lot of accessories for My 1992 Softail? It seems nearly everything is 1996 and later.

Specifically, I am wanting some chrome control housings, but they are all labeled for 1996 and later. Are the Softails that much different after 1996? What was the big change? My buddy's '99 Softail looks just like mine.

Thanks. But it's not just the control housings. There are quite a few different parts I have looked at that all say 1996 and up.

major stuff is the same thru 99. seats, wheels, exhaust goes to like 07. I need a set of black 95 down housings (I stripped the housing). some guys buy the whole 96 up set an use the switches an housing.

Because pre-96 gets a glued left grip and after its held on by control. It's not s big deal just buy the 96+

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the link langwilliams! Those didn't come up on my ebay search. If I get those, I could send you my black take offs if you still need 'em.

Replacing with post '96 controls is an option as well. Thanks!
