Default Lowering Softail - Opinions Wanted

Looking to lower my '04 Deuce. Seems like three options..

1) Burnout kit - no press required.
2) Progressive or Ness kit - press required
3) Progressive 413 or 422

Looking for feedback - leaning towards Burnout kit. I'm 6'2" 250 so I need a bit of suspension between my fat @$$ and the road, but much I've read says 250 1 up with lowering kit no biggie.

Want to bring the Deuce fender, which is too high over the tire, down....

I can to speak to the installation, but not the performance of the Progressive kit. I just put it in and haven't rode my bike yet.

I was going to get the burnout kit, but the parts guy at my local dealer told me you didn't have to dismantle the shock for the progressive kit, so I got that one. Well, you do, I found out. I did it on a Sunday and called several places to see if I could rent or buy a shock compression tool. No dice. So I fabricated one out of a couple of 2x4's, a small house jack from Home Depot ( I think I paid around $10 for a while back), some PVC, carriage bolts and c-clamps to keep it from flying apart when I squished the shock. The press turned out to be very stable, and it was amazingly easy to dismantle the shock. I can post pics of the press I built if anyone is interested.

Anyway, not sure if that helps in your decision or not. But I am pleased with my "decision" to get the Progressive kit.

Please do, most of us probably don't have a burning desire to pull the shocks apart, now. Buttomorrow is another day and somebody might have to for a completely different reason.

I usead a 413 shock replacement. A bit higher in cost, but very clean and simple. No desire to disassemble a spring loaded shock - bad experience with a car spring in my youth....

I have the Burn Out kit , you do not have to disassemble the shocks. The kit threads on the end of the factory shocks . It comes with locknuts & hardware . A good buy ...

No pont in lowering a softail in my opinion, it is already quite low. I went thru this phase, and until I can pony up the amount for platinum air systems, I won't bother...IMO
