Default Fat Boy Lo Cost

First off, let me apologize if I'm posting in the wrong area of the forum. I'm relatively new to the forums and haven't quite navigated through the infinite sections and topics.

I'm most likely a few days away from purchasing my first motorcycle, which so happens to be a 2012 Harley Fat Boy Lo I don't want to feel cheated when I make the final purchase. With that said, what would be considered a "fair" price to walk out the door, all said and done?

Some factors to consider -
1. Black Denim (Everything else stock)
2. Weather in my area - Think Nevada/Arizona. Hot summers. Cool Winters. No Snow, minimal rain.
3. Should I expect a Discount

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance !!!

Generally, no to the discount. Where you may be able to haggle is on the warranty if you're buying one or get them to throw in or discount some parts. Don't forget tax, title, license and frieght when figuring your total.
All situational on the dealer though.

You should expect a discount, since dealers want to get rid of the 2012 models to make room for the 2013's. Best time to purchase a new bike is now. That said, however, don't expect thousands of dollars off. A grand or so off msrp, incl. TTL w/some extras thrown in would be an pretty awesome deal for this time of year.

I bought my 2012 Lo shortly after they came out. I payed 1k less than MSRP (not dealer price). If I was able to get a 1K discount when they first came out, I would think you could expect at least the same if not better.

Once you agree on a price don't search to see if you did good. Almost always you'll find someone who got a better deal and it'll just make you mad.

Look at msrp, figure out the tax and all the other fees then decide what you'd like to pay. Be reasonable and realistic with your number. Shop around a few dealers if you need to.

I bought a used '11 last week at Red Rock Harley, but when I was looking, the dealer at Las Vegas HD told me they would take $1500 off the MSRP of any new '12 on the floor except a Sporty.

1$k off is good and might be do-able considering the 2013's will be out soon. Couple months ago you would be lucky to get anything off due to peak riding season and peak sales. Best deals are made in winter during the offseason.

I bought my lo about a month or so ago and got it within a few hundred of invoice. Also got the 1k and 5k services thrown in for free too. Still had to pay TTL, but the services make up for it.

Good luck!

Ultimately, it's whether you're happy with what you paid. You'll always be able to find someone somewhere that got this discount or that credit. Decide what it's worth to you to be on the ride you want and work from there.
