The $16.00 bolts off of Ebay will get ya way down. The install is not hard at all. It took me about 45 minutes to install the lowering bolts. I tightened up on the preload so that they shocks would not bottom out easily and it rides just fine. They will go about a 1/2-3/4" lower than in the picture below.

Yea, part of the reason it doesn't look as low is because of the bobtail fender and I removed the license plate bracket. I guess it just depends on what each person wants... to me, the 1-1/2" is fine... it looks MUCH better than stock when you look at them side by side.

Your bike don't look lowered! Is that the before pic?

Yes, it is lowered 1-1/2". It doesnt look slammed because it isnt and also because it is a bobtail with the license plate removed.

Here is before:

And here is a pic right after I installed the lowering kit:

The pic I posted at the beginning of the thread is how the bike is now (same lowering kit)... after some other stuff like rolling the bars forward, chopping the license plate and a few other things.

$16 bolts here for the full 2". Shotguns are on my shortlist, though, if nothing else but to be able to pump it up for when the wife gets on... (all kinds of puns in that sentence!)

Yeah I see the difference. Mine had that fender on it from the factory
but I bought mine badly wrecked back in 07 and went back stock, then decided to change everything but the frame and engine. I sold all the parts here on the forum and the 21 inch blade wheel and tire on eBay. Most folks don't see mine as a 2007 night train and that's what my intentions were. Not much evidence left of that. I like the bottom edge of the rear fender to be even with the top edge of the wheel and still ride soft. I accomplished that so I'm through with suspension. It will go another inch lower. Your bike looks really good! @OP, didn't mean to hijack your thread. Sorry.

Thanks man! You are right, I would have never known yours was a Night train. I like the bobtail fender, it reminds me of the older harleys but I love that fender you have on yours. If I thought I could get someone to match my factory fire red pearl/black pearl paint, I would be very tempted to put something like that on mine.

I suffer from liking many styles and can't figure which way for sure I want to go. Lol I still have a lot I want to do to mine.

I guess everyone has their way of doing things. I just can't see paying $80.00 just to save a little time when I can spend $16.00 and a little of my free labor and get the actual look of a bike that has been lowered. Don't get me wrong ghoticov, you bike does look better lowered but that little more you can get with bolts makes all the visual difference in the world. You could fab a kit up like the one above for next to nothing and go lower than the 1 1/2" with a long piece of hex nut and machine it down in the lathe to the correct specs and a couple of thicker two-piece shaft collars.
