Default Hey cholo guys....

Are you guys with these cholos running these pipes with or without baffles and did you go get your bikes re-dynoed afterwards too?

I run the non-baffled ones and did not have to rejet after coming from a D&D FatCat.

No baffles here either, they arnt that loud, quieter than it was with V & H duals with baffles, not really too much of a worry though, as the new ones will allow you to retro fit them.

Thanks guys and I am not worried at all about how loud or not they are. I am only worried about performance issues. I have been riding better then 35 years and this Python pipe I have now, with this bike, is the very 1st time I ever had a baffle. I always ran straight drag pipes. I have a SE race tuner now so I just wanted to know if I had to get it dynoed afterwards IF I decide to go to these pipes this winter. Also, I am EFI, not a carb'd bike and a heavily modified motor, make a difference?

Heya Tony. My name is Jason and I am a performance mod addict. I'm also a sex addict, I love my Jack, a power addict, and I'm addicted to stuffed animals, but that is for another forum.

I have a similarly modded sled. I too was concerned about the possible loss of power from changing to fishies. I went with baffled duals from Python. I was running VnH BRs 2-2s. The Python also has a crushed head tube to increase the back pressure. Even with baffles, these are pretty loud. Not as loud as non baffled, obviously, and they sound like they have a lot less decel pop as my friends with the non baffled Samsons.
I did get mine re-dyno'd, but didn't really have to. I didn't feel anything in my seat-of-the-pants Dyno. The jets in my carb work fine.. I really did it to get the new numbers she was turning out.

Now I have to get back to rearranging my beanie-babies.

Socal: Put down the beanie babies!!!

I have the Samson Tru-Dual 33" fishtails with removable baffles and tips. I have found the best sound (not necessarily quieter) from my system is with the baffles. The baffles are really just foot-long perforated metal tubes (with a thin, round bar that runs across the diameter of the baffle - I suppose to make it easier to insert and remove the baffles and acts as a back-pressure inducing device) that goes inside the end of the exhaust right before the removable tips. The system I have, is FAR from quiet. It is usually one of, if not THE, loudest bike in the groups I ride with, and I ride with folks that all have aftermarket exhausts.

The baffles are far from being a muffler. The sound with them is a little deeper than without and reduces the "tinniness" sound produced from the exhaust valves closing that accompanies a fully-open exhaust.

My suggestion is to get the type of system that allows you to remove the baffles. You can always run the system without the baffles, but you will have a hard time adding baffles to systems not designed for them. Best of both worlds, if you get my drift.

I have a 95CI motor with gear-driven cams (4* retarded) and a modified fuel/timing system (PCIII USB), and I have not noticed a drop in performance with the tru-duals. I am sure there are performance increases to be had with a properly designed and tuned 2 into 1 system and matching components, but I have more than enough power to do what I want/need with my bike.

I didn't buy my bike to race, so squeezing every last drop of power out of my bike is not a priority for me. 90HP at less than 5500 rpm and 100lb/ft of torque at less than 4000 rpm from my bike works great for me. My bike is a heavy bitch at about 750lbs (plus me at 180lbs and occasionally my wife at 130lbs), so low-end grunt was my goal. Tru-duals did not, in the end, hurt my bike any.

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't do my bike to race it either. I have never even ripped this thing yet to actually see what I do have, I hit it hard 1 single time until I hit 5th then dropped back out of it. I do however want to get top performance out of my mods though. I just want it to run like I have it set up to run, designed to run. I will call samson 1st if I decide to go with them but right now I am looking at baffled 42's.
