Does anyone know a head lamp that would match my bullet turn signals? I did a search and I am unclear on which one would be best.
I bought an HD chrome trim ring for my stock head lamp but 1. I could not, for the life of me, get it attached. The screw on the bottom isn't long enough to tighten it down and even if I could get it tight, I'm not sure it would stay 2. I don't like the way it looks even if I could get it attached. I am taking it back tomorrow.
Anyone have some good links for Headlamps that would look better with my signals?
This is what I went with: The H-D eyebrow trim ring and Adjure Tri-Bar headlight.
The trim ring was a bit of a PITA, but I got it.
Dude, I have worked on the damn trim ring for over an hour and I just cannot get it on. It will go around the headlight but there is about a 1/2" gap between and the screw isn't long enough to feed through to get it tightened down. I've said every cuss word known to man. Lol
Did yours have a nice gap before tightening it down? I did remove the Adapter ring because I thought that might be what was in the way. But even if I could get it tightened down, its no even all the way around the headlamp. It looks great on top and around the sides but the bottom is not a smooth fit.
Mine didn't come with an adapter ring, just a relatively soft foam rubber gasket. There was a bit of a gap between the ends at the bottom and I played hell getting the ring pushed against the headlight, and squeezing the ring together to give me space to get the nut and bolt started. But I didn't have any uneven gaps around it. I'll be an *** and ask that you're sure you got a ring for 5 3/4"? But I have seen in here troubles with things. Almost exactly what you are describing.
You have to loosen the stock ring for those split pinch style rings to seat properly over the stock one. If not, it will not seat fully between the back of the stock ring and the bucket.
The dealer said this part replaces the stock trim ring...which I found interesting because the part above basically clamps to itself horizontally while the stock ring actually goes toward the tank and attaches to the other part of the headlight (the part the light sits in). Does that make sense?
I can't imagine that this piece attaches over the stock trim ring though, it would stick out all the way around and there would definitely be no way to clamp it down.

Interesting. Maybe your year didn't have that adapter ring. I did take it off but it made no difference, there was still too Mich of a gab for me to even screw it together to try and close the gap.

That ring is a frenched style ring isn't it? To better match your bullet turn signals I would go with a 69738-05. Which is a visor style ring that bolts on like the stock ring instead of being the split style.
