Default pipes dragin'

Got V&H long shots on my deuce, sitting low, bottom pipe scrapes when huggin' the turns. Anyone have a fix fer that or think it may work to cut them down @ an angle? Guess I could adjust the ride height but it looks so nice how it sits.

Lowering bolts and Progressive shocks are a disease. Shotgun shock is the cure.

J.D.'s got 'em on sale for $1250 thru the end of August. That's a smokin' deal. They're normally $1550.

Seems awesome but that is pretty pricey. Anyone have more information on the total cost to install the shotgun shock and the details of the benefits?

Hoggymtnbreakdown said it best. The answer to your problem is the shotgun shocks. It's the best mod you can do for your bike. You will never regret it if you put them on. The benefits are many with the SS's. It's a new bike each and every time you get on it and adjust the air system. It's also so nice to be able to do it on the fly. If I am going down the highway, it's slammed. When I get to the exit to ride in town or out on country roads I simply reach down and pump it up a tad. It makes riding so much more fun and everyone loves when you pull up to a crowd and then drop that thing down and walk away like it's nothing. The ride and how it handles is the best thing about this air ride system. It eats up bumps, holes and most of all the ruts in the road. Always remember, you get what you pay for. I have seen tons of guys on here go with something less expensive only to later take that stuff off and throw the Shotguns on there instead. You will never regret putting them on, I and so many others promise you that. Had I known I would like them so much, how well they perform It would have been the 1st mod I would have done when I brought the bike home. I don't like being talked into things but guys here did just that to me, I pulled the trigger and the rest as they say is history. They are worth every penny and the really nice thing about these shocks is it's pretty much plug and play. The hardest part about the install, for my bike was getting the old shocks off. After that it's pretty simple. Also, JD is the best. he stands behind his product 100% and is always just a phone call away.

While I can not argue with the advice to go with shotgun shocks (I have heard nothing but great things about them), I would fist adjust the pre-load on your stock shocks.

This adjustment costs you nothing (unless you need to buy the $8 tool) and does little to the ride height when parked, it does not let the rear suspension compress (lower) as much when you just sit on it. What it does do is let you use the suspension better when you are riding.

My fishtails used to scrape a bit before I adjusted the pre-load firmer. Once I adjusted the pre-load to properly accommodate my weight (I weigh 180, P.O. had softened up the rear pre-load considerably - I mean way too soft) I have not had the pipes scrape since.

Looking at my bike's picture below, you can see my bike is far from a 4x4.

Now, if you want to raise and lower at the flip of a switch, Shotgun is definitely the way to go.

Me, I'll always try free first.
