Electrical problem
I have 2007 Night Train and while riding this weekend my yellow engine light and battery light came on together, after a few miles bike sarted to pop and then then idle real high when I stopped. I think I have a bad stator. When I test my battery I have 12.3v, when I crank the bike and idle or rev the bike the volts never move, they just stay at 12.3v. I found some posts on how to check. I have the three wire stator system. I cranked the bike and put one lead in one of the stator holes and one in another. I got around 20v. I then swaped those two and got the same reading. As I reveved the motor the volts went up. I then put a lead in the third hole and one of the other two that I just tested, I got like 3v. Kept the lead in the same third hole and swaped the other lead to other lead the tested good and got the 3v again. I assume that the stator is bad. I found a post on how to check the regulator and that test seemed ok. If anyone has the exact way to check the stator and regulator I would be greatlful for the help. I just want to make sure have the right part identified. Thanks.
