Completely stumped
Hello everyone, I got myself in a real bad spot again.
Today I was installing my exhaust on my 2012 FXS w/abs, security. I am using a Fuelpak as well as big sucker air cleaner.
I accidentally did not install one of the O2 sensors. After the install I successfully started the bike and while I was driving down the block I lost all power in the engine. The speedometer read low range and all lights illuminated on the speedometer. I then lost all electrical power.
I reinstalled the O2 sensor, replace all fuses and check all connections. I tried the bike with and without the Fuelpak to rule it out. The battery is fine. When I turn ignition nothing turns on, no fuel pump, no speedometer, no lights.
The only response I can get from the bike is when I press the trip I can get the odometer reading and the time.
Is it possible that the O2 sensor folly crapped my ECM out?
I had my voltage regulator replaced 3000 miles ago and have had no problems since.
I am completely stumped, any help would be appreciated.

Can't see how that would happen. I can see the bike not runnimg good, but thats all. I don't know anything about the security system, but that could be an issue, other then that it sounds electrical.
Could be it went into a full ecm shut down. These bikes are equiped with a "limp home" mode, but if ecm senses a major fault that it deams could damage the motor, it will shut itself down. There is a reset procedure avail on this forum. May want to search or maybe someone else can supply that info. I dont think your Fuelpak is the cause. You could disconnect it to isolate problem, and if you have to go to dealer, I would remove it completley and not have it come up in the conversation.
No fuses were blown. Fuelpak was removed.
I have tried searching but have been unable to find a reset for a complete ECM shut down. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

When I have a problem with a car I usually unhook the negative battery cable for thirty minutes for a hard reset. This will clear things like computer lock up because of a misread key code among many other problem in a car. I am not sure if it will help with a motorcycle though. I can see any downside to not trying it on a bike either.
"When I have a problem with a car I usually unhook the negative battery cable for thirty minutes for a hard reset"
this is what I was going to suggest but you may want to confirm it. My buddy had the battery go out on his '10 chevy truck an they had to hook a battery into the system via the cigarette lighter for the emc during the battery change or it f's up the ecm. I guess that's something the gm came up with for the dealers to generate some business for them.

Some shops hook up into the cigarette lighter because they do not want to reset radio lock out codes and and other things. I have not heard or not being able to unhook a battery because of it messing up a ecm. On newer vehicles we remove the battery completely to charge it if need be, especially on hybrids since jump starting them can damage sensitive electronics.
Losing all power like that sure sounds like a main fuse or bad connection to me. Triple check the main fuse and everything under the seat including the battery connections.
I think to reset the ECM you would turn the "Run" switch on and then turn the ignition switch on/off three times, pausing a second between each time.
Good luck!
