Default Bagger tail Questions

Sort of getting the Bagger bug, my own fault really, I bought a couple of Bagger magazines, have to say I'm really in to them, but not going down the SG route just yet.
But for now I'm getting some bits together for the transformation. I have my extended bags, lids and latches here, just waiting on the brackets and fillers.
I'm a bit worried about getting at the back wheel for cleaning puposes, those of you with extended hard bags fitted, can you tell me how hard it is to clean the back wheel?
Also, I'm keen to have the option to remove the stuff from time to time, although many people have told me that I probably wont bother, what sort of time scale involved to remove the bags.
Finally do apes go with a batwing fairing?, or is that a bad idea?.

The bags will come off the brackets easily. I set mine up with bolts to keep honest thief's honest, and I can get them off the bracket in about two minutes. Once off I can clean my wheel fine. I do not have spokes though so hard to say. I remember spokes being a pain in the **** when I had them on a bike with no bags. I do not have the cycle visions bracket but assume that they all mount to the passenger peg/floorboard bolt. So it is a little more involved to get the actual bracket off to run with out them. I would say about 15 min or so. Since I have added mine I have not taken them off. Really nice to be able to load all my work clothes in the bags and not strapped down to the passenger seat. The apes and batwing I feel is a personal taste. I like it and am running them. The biggest problem is either you have to run gangster apes or rock them back when the fairing is on. I am running LA Chopper bagger apes and they bend real low so I do not have to rock them back when I add the fairing. To me having the bags and removable fairing is the best set up. You can have multiple bikes in one. Add the shot gun and it makes a damn fine set up for touring. Here is a link to my set up. If you have questions let me know

Thanks for that, maybe I can get some kind of wing nuts on the inside of the bags.
Be nice to here from someone with spokes wheels and hard bags.
As regards the apes, does anyone have any feelings as to what Carlini 16'' gangsters would be like with a Batwing?

Hi Lawnmowerman,
I've got hard bags on my Heritage, with fat spokes...It's a pretty quick disconnect, to clean...I don't have 16" apes, but I do have 12.5" Wild Ones with a Batwing...It's all good...

The Cyclevisions ones mount up with 2 twist-lock bolts on each, so you can pull the bags off the bike in less than 5 seconds each without tools to be able to clean the wheels and the bags themselves.

If you want to actually remove the bracket itself that's a bit more of an undertaking that will require tools, as you'll need to pull your fender bolts and the bolts holding your passenger pegs. In order to take off the bolts holding your passenger peg mounts you'll also have to actually remove the pegs themselves to get to the bolt heads. Really removing the brackets is kind of a pain in the ***, and if you're only doing it for cosmetic purposes I am highly doubtful you'll find it worth the time once you get them mounted on the bike. I'll occasionally pull the bags off and ride it with the brackets still on, the brackets aren't super noticeable when you're riding, both to you or anyone you are passing. When you're parked you may get some questions though.

Thank you, and thanks to all the others for the replies too,
It's good to hear that the Cyclevisions mount will allow me to quickly remove the bags to clean my wheels, this is something thats important to me.
