Default Blackline wiring problem ??

Everytime I put on an after market item which involves the rear light wiring, the taillight/brake/signal does not work when I'm done. Anyone else ? 2011 FXS Softtail Blackline. Just wondering if there is a model problem or a mechanic problem. (The mechanic would be me.)

You might have a problem because of the can-bus wiring on the 2011 and up models.

Don't know of a work around that one. Maybe someone else knows?

yeah, not simple electrical circuits anymore. All computer controlled and balanced. Modifying the circuit with cut and splice will sometimes cause it to fail. They're designed for "approved" plug-n-play accessories only.

i changed the wire route on my rear lights (made it easier to remove fender whenever i want) and had to extend the wires to do so, cut splice solder and tape/shrink wrap...no problems for me.

might want to double check the connections you made, did you solder them?

Cut and spliced for the install of the LED tailights on mine, works fine.

I completely remove the rear tail light and changed over to to LED's on a license plate mounted on the swingarm pivot........lotsa of cutting and splicing....twisted, soldered and shrink wrapped no problems at all.
