Hey guys, I'm not saying I don't ride in the cold or winter months. I am saying for the most part, winter she sits in the garage tore down. When it's up and running, so am I, just no where near as much as like in the summer months. I have all the riding gear, 2 windshields to choose from. I don't just ride my bike I show it too. So, when winter hits I do tear it down just for cleaning and waxing even if I have no mods to do, she still comes apart. I am not only grateful for the job I have, I am very thankful. My job and its pay has allowed me to do many things and the most important of those was to be able to go back to court when my kids were 10 and 12 to fight for and to get full custody of my kids. I raised them alone, never remarried, never will. My divorce cost me over a 1/4 of a mill and has cost me 2 bikes. I hate to say this because she is my kids mother but she was found dead last year and because she had no will I get all of my pension back. I will never give another person a crack at my life savings and pensions again, ever, NEVER! With some major savings in my 401k, smart stock market decisions I am back on my own 2 feet and able to retire soon. God has truly blessed me and it has not gone un-noticed or unappreciated. I been riding nearly 40 years now and I have not found allot that has kept me off of my bike when I want to ride. Just getting a little older now and when I am freezing it does take a toll on my old bones and causes me pain with a few medical issues I am fighting. Nothing major, just enough to be a pain in the azz.
Hey man, i don't think anyone was giving ya a hard time on purpose, just a little good-natured ribbing. Sure seems you've paid your dues in life and deserve some joy. You've got one helluva nice scoot there so take her out and roll! I'd give my left one to be riding a bike like that.
OH no liberator, I never took anything anyone said as being negative or in a bad way. I know everyone does things different so I never take to much personal. Thanks for the feedback on my bike. It is the bike I have waited for even though I have had them all my life. I got my kids raised so it's my turn now. I could never afford a bike like this in days gone by, priorities, ya know? Ride safe, have fun and live to ride another day.
I'm kind of in the same boat as you, just a few years older and riding since the 60's, I still work 16 hours a week...self employed... 'cause I need the structure that working affords me in my life to get up in the morning with something to do.
Riding conditions, not factoring in the smoke we've had from all the fires in the NW, have been and still are pretty good. 70's lately. But when it gets cold (by my definition) the bikes go in the garage 'til spring rolls around. I am not into cold weather riding, and ain't a damn bit ashamed to say it. Hell, I don't even go fishin' anymore when it gets cold.
Winter mods will be a lowering kit for the softail and possibly new exhaust. The Sportster probly won't see much work done to it
Well gentlemen thankfully I live in northern Florida. While it does get cold it doesn't get snowy so our season is year round. Wouldn't know anything about retirement cus its comin for me a lot later in life. I just have retirement funds that I fund now. No mods for me. Just got the bike and the wife isn't allowing me to spend anymore for awhile lol.
